My Guitar is a song that Phil wrote back in 2002. As you may know, Phil LOVES to play guitar!
This song is all about the magic of guitars, where they come from, and how they transform from nature to man-made instruments that evoke our hopes and dreams in music.
Each verse repeats a word in the last line of the previous verse. In this way, the story links together until it eventually circles back to the first verse again.
lyrics
LYRICS:
My Guitar once was a tree
In the forest green
It caught the sunlight
That fell upon its leaves
Now it catches dreams
My dreams
Once were real
Real as a unicorn
Real as the flames from a dragon's mouth
In a puff of smoke they were gone
Long gone
Far far away
Far as I can fly
Long gone
Gone with the day
Behind the sky
The sky
Once was my mind
In days when minds were free
To climb the clouds
To chase the wind
High above the trees
My Guitar once was a tree
In the forest green
It caught the sunlight
That fell upon its leaves
Now it catches dreams
